Accessibility statement

Accessibility

This website should be usable by everyone who needs to register a facility, follow an application, check a licence or report a problem. This page says what it supports, what it does not do well yet, and how to tell us when something stops you.

What this website supports

Eleven languages

English, Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Tigrinya, Somali, Afar, Sidaama, French, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese. Arabic switches the page right-to-left.

Keyboard and screen readers

Every control can be reached with the keyboard and shows where focus is. Buttons, icons and form fields carry labels a screen reader announces.

Zoom and larger text

Pages reflow when zoomed to 200% or when your device uses larger text, without sideways scrolling.

Light and dark themes

Switch with the moon button in the header. Text keeps its contrast in both.

Reduced motion

If your device asks for reduced motion, photos stop rotating and animations are kept to a minimum.

Phones and tablets

Registration, tracking, the registry and certificates are built to work on a phone screen.

Useful shortcuts

Known limitations

  • Afar and Sidaama translations were produced by machine and are being reviewed by native speakers.
  • The map view needs a browser with WebGL. Every location shown on a map is also given as a written address.
  • Uploaded documents (licences, receipts, photos) are shown as the applicant sent them and may not be readable by a screen reader.

Report a barrier

A barrier on this website

Tell us what stopped you. It goes to the ministry's complaints desk. Name and contact are optional; leave them if you would like a reply.

A barrier at a facility

No ramp, no accessible toilet, or staff who refused help? Report it against that hotel, restaurant or other establishment. It goes to the licensing officers, who can raise it at the facility's next inspection.
